Tim Woodsmall of Mt. Carmel and Ryan Bobbitt of Evansille, Ind., claimed the NewWave 2-man scramble over the weekend. The duo shot back-to-back eleven under 60s, to beat Chase Emge of Newburgh, Ind., and Kellen Higginson of Haubstadt, Ind., by four shots.

Mt. Carmel Middle School was represented at the Southern Illinois Junior High School Athletic Association Class L State Track Meet at Carterville on Saturday. Bryce Maguire, Carmen deisher, Dylan Marshall, Kevin Smith, Justin Spear, Daxton Peach and Andrew Carwile all got to make the trip after qualifying at the Regionals.

Injured Men Identified in Rollover Near Buhl

BUHL • Driver Clint Sobotka, 33, and passenger Bryan deisher, 38, both of Buhl, have been identified as those injured Saturday afternoon in a one-vehicle rollover on Idaho Highway 46 near Clear Lakes Grade.

BUHL • A one-vehicle rollover at 4:41 p.m. today closed Idaho Highway 46 in both directions and sent two people to St. Luke’s Magic Valley Medical Center.

Crushers win second tourney

The Mt. Carmel Crushers softball team played in its second tournament of the season and picked up a second win at the “Best of the Midwest” tournament in Terre Haute, Ind. The Crushers went 6-1 in the tournament to get the title.

Vinton Dogwood Festival brings business to the area

Organizers say more than 20,000 people attend the Dogwood Festival. That is almost triple the town of Vinton’s population. With that many people, Mary Beth Layman with the town of Vintonsays that kind of business if great for the town.

Track Aces take 2nd at home

Mt. Carmel’s Hayden Robinson took 2nd place in the long jump during Monday’s track meet at Mt. Carmel High School. Robinson flew 17’ 9.5” over the pit.
