Massachusetts Addresses "Biomass Loophole" and Limits Subsidies

The Massachusetts Department of Energy Resources (
doer) issued regulations recently limiting ratepayer-funded subsidies known as renewable energy certificates (RECs) to only those biomass power plants which adhere to scientific standards for climate and forest impacts. The regulations followed a two-year review process involving scientists, industry, and citizen groups.

doer was unveiled at the Legislature today.
doer, who is now Canada's Ambassador to the United States, was on hand for the unveiling. He'll speak at a luncheon at the Winnipeg Convention Center later.

doer was many things during his stint in public office. He could be a union man when he needed union co-operation. He managed to build a reasonably cordial relationship with the province’s business community.
