Creston freshman Hanna Luther catches a pop fly during a preseason practice session. The Creston softball team opened its season with a 10-0 defeat of Corning at home Monday. The Panthers, who start the season ranked No. 7 in Class 4A this season, travel to No. 3-ranked Winterset Thursday.

GREENFIELD — Creston’s boys soccer team completed a season shutout of Nodaway Valley with a 7-0 victory Friday night. That comes on the heels of a 2-0 victory over the Wolverines early in the season at the Winterset Tournament.

frain have been the faces of Creston softball. The two fierce competitors have been unanimous first team all-conference players for four years, and both have made all-state teams on some level all four years, including both being repeat first team all-staters last year. Creston High School holds annual awards day

The 2012 Creston High School awards day was held May 4. The following students received honors and were recognized. Allison Wood, Morgan Chapman, Joey Mullin and Austin Brunell are Creston High School’s representatives for the Omaha World Herald Academic Recognition Program.
Tree giveaway a success

Northeast Queens will soon be a little more green. The Bayside–Whitestone Lions Club sponsored its first ever tree giveaway on Saturday, April 28 at A&S Nursery in Whitestone.
