Baucus: Senate Investigating Veterans Charity

HELENA – U.S. Sen. Max Baucus of Montana said Wednesday that the legislative finance committee that he chairs is launching an investigation into a charity it suspects may be exploiting veterans. The Democrat said that the Disabled Veterans National Foundation has raised millions of dollars but apparently spent very little on disabled veterans. Large sums instead went to a marketing firm.

Former Polson Building Inspector Denies Threats

POLSON – A former Polson building inspector has denied a charge that he threatened co-workers after he was fired. KERR-AM reports 57-year-old Ronald Melvin pleaded not guilty in District Court Wednesday to a charge of threats and improper influence in official and political matters. District Judge C.B. McNeil set an Oct. 29 trial date.

NCAA awards 2013 College Cup soccer to Philadelphia, not Hoover

BIRMINGHAM, Alabama -- The NCAA men's soccer championships won't return to Hoover in 2013. The NCAA announced this month the College Cup moves to Philadelphia next year, completing a two-year stay at Regions Park once the 2012 championship is held in December.
